The Lakes Secwepemc Foodland Conservation Society (LSFCS) is driven by the wisdom of our ancestors, guided by the values of relational accountability, and inspired by the strength of our community to create a thriving, sustainable future for generations to come.
Our purpose is to research, educate, and advocate for Secwepemc foodland conservation through strategies that uphold our sacred responsibilities to care for the land, water, culture, spirituality, and future generations.

Our Leadership
LSFCS is led by a board of directors composed entirely of Indigenous members from the Lakes Secwepemc communities, including Neskonlith, Adams Lake, and Little Shuswap bands. Our leadership reflects the diversity of knowledge within our community, with members representing roles such as:
- Elders and Knowledge Keepers
- Subsistence hunters, fishers, and gatherers
- Small-scale farmers and seed stewards
- Indigenous food sovereignty advocates

Board of Directors

Janice Billy (Neskonlith Band)
Janice is a dedicated advocate for Secwepemc cultural preservation and food sovereignty. With deep roots in the Neskonlith Band, her work focuses on integrating traditional knowledge into sustainable practices that protect and revitalize Secwepemc lands and culture.

Sharon Niscak (Neskonlith Band)
Sharon has a lifelong passion for food security, specializing in First Nations food systems and sustainable practices. Her work combines traditional knowledge with scientific approaches, advancing food sovereignty and community education.

Tiffany Traverse (Shuswap Band)
Tiffany (she/they) is a land and seed steward, food sovereignty advocate, and researcher. They serve on multiple boards, including the Canadian Mountain Network and Indigenous Climate Action, championing Indigenous-led conservation and seed sovereignty.
